Ideas + Plans

Oak Farm Cemetery

Two pavilions with a simple glazed linking structure provides for the Islamic practice of saying prayers, whist contemplating the openness of the woodland cemetery beyond.

Effra Parade Residence

The original fabric of this former ground floor retail unit was retained, extended to the rear and side to create flexible living space inside & out. Exposed construction methods and minimal treatement of materials serve to reveal the extent of the alterations whilst also reducing waste production through selective methods of salvage, conservation and restoration.

East Dulwich Grove Residence

Large ground floor & basement additions redefine the physical & visual connection to the extensive landscaped garden of this 3 storey detached house, providing continuity of space, material and natural light.

Rye Meadows Wetlands

This masterplan scheme transforms 14 acres of privately owned agricultural land in Surrey into publicly accessible wetland, nature reserve and Woodland Trust ‘Jubilee Wood’. Methodic Practice acts as client agent & project coordinator in collaboration with a variety of volunteer groups and the local community. The creation of new habitats for important species and increasing biodiversity was central to the brief. This involved 2-3 acres of the site being dedicated to the planting of hedges and woodland indigenous to the area, rerouting the course of the Rye Brook river and construction of new ponds & scrapes to reinstate the historic wetland habitat.
