This modest 3 bedroom 2 storey 1960’s infill required an extensive overhaul to meet the clients criteria for a modern, ecological, high performance home.
The proposed scheme comprises a new additional storey on top of the existing building to provide a master bedroom and family bathroom. At ground floor a new rear additon extends the open living space providing kitchen & dining facilities connected to the walled garden by room height sliding doors.
The natural materiality of the unfinished Cedar cladding relates to the original building features used and offers a durable and low maintenance exterior. When coupled with externally insulated & rendered walls and new highly insulated aluminium double glazing the refurbished home exceeds the former both aesthetically and environmentally.
